Four Generations of Craft. One Shared Love for the Work.

Every piece we make from custom wood furniture to handcrafted home accessories is built with care, patience, and intention. These values have been passed down through generations, learned at the workbench and refined through years of hands-on experience.

  • We don’t cut corners.
  • We don’t rush jobs.
  • We don’t chase trends.

Instead, we listen.

  • To what you want.
  • To how you live.
  • To the kind of piece that will truly serve your home, not just decorate it.

Because when furniture is made right, made to fit your space, your story, and your values, it becomes more than a product.

It becomes part of your family.

Meet the Makers

Meet Richard & Asha

Dovetails & Stitches is shaped by two makers with different backgrounds, shared values, and a deep respect for craft. Together, their perspectives guide every decision from design to finish.

Richard

  • A lifelong woodworker whose approach was shaped by learning the craft from his father and grandfather
  • Brings decades of hands-on experience in traditional joinery, materials, and problem-solving
  • Focuses on structure, proportion, and how a piece will perform over time

Asha

  • A minimalist designer with a sharp eye for balance, restraint, and detail
  • Launched her accessories line using offcuts from the furniture studio, reducing waste and giving materials a second life
  • Brings a modern sensibility that keeps each piece clean, functional, and approachable

Together, they build pieces that balance tradition and modern living. Work that feels grounded, intentional, and meant to be used.

Every piece that leaves the studio has passed through both sets of hands.

What We Build (and Why It Matters)

  • Custom furniture and handmade home goods designed around how you live, not how a piece photographs.

  • Built-to-last construction, using solid hardwoods and proven joinery chosen for strength, stability, and longevity.

  • Thoughtful design decisions shaped by listening first, proportions, materials, and finishes selected to fit your space and routines.

  • Pieces meant to age well, wearing in over time and remaining useful long after trends change.

  • Work made in small batches, allowing us to focus on quality, not volume.

We don’t build for showrooms. We build for real homes. The kind where meals are shared, moments unfold, and memories live for decades.

See it come to life

“All of the back & forth questions never went to waste. ‘How Sweet It Is’ has now settled into her new cozy space! It’s amazingly perfect in how it matches the bench seating. The delivery guys were great, and they loved the crate. I can’t wait for Bob to get home today to share this special day with me. Thank you again… a million times.”

— Kathleen, a Dovetails and Stitches client

It is feedback like this that makes this work meaningful to us.

We’re here to help you build a home, with pieces that carry presence, purpose, and story. Like How Sweet It Is, a custom dining table we adapted mid-build to fit seamlessly into a cozy kitchen nook.
