Our most popular propagation vase, and the one we're asked about most. Lemon Tree is handcrafted from a single piece of olive wood, a dense and richly figured hardwood with grain that swirls and shifts in ways no two boards ever repeat. Each vase is shaped around the natural live edge of the board, so the outline you receive is genuinely one of a kind.

We remove the bark by hand rather than leaving it in place. Bark on a piece like this eventually loosens and falls away, so we take it back to the darker layer just beneath, leaving a soft, natural border where the wood once met the outside world. From there, each piece is hand-sanded to 1000 grit, far beyond typical, and finished with hand-rubbed oil that brings up the depth of the grain and gives the surface a velvety, almost tactile warmth.

Designed to be lived with

The glass tube is held by rare earth magnets, so it lifts straight out for cleaning or refilling and clicks back into place. No wrestling a tube out of a tight hole, no dripping water down the wall. Just lift, rinse, replace.

Each tube measures 1″ × 6″, roomy enough for almost any cutting you'd want to root: pothos, philodendron, monstera, tradescantia, herbs, and more. Watch the roots develop through the glass, then pot them up and start again.

The vase hangs on a sawtooth hanger and weighs about a pound, so a simple picture hook or nail is all you need. No anchors, no stud-finding, no hardware to source.

Choose one tube or two

Both versions share the same overall footprint. The two-tube version lets you root a pair of cuttings side by side, or keep one going while the other establishes. Since every olive wood backer is unique in size, shape, and grain, yours will be its own piece either way.

Care: Refresh the water every few days or whenever it looks cloudy. The magnet mount makes this a ten-second job. Wipe any drips from the wood and avoid letting water stand on the surface. Hang away from direct sun and heat sources. An occasional wipe of food-safe wood oil will keep the grain rich for years.

Wood is a natural material, so variations in grain and color are part of the character. Each piece is unique, and that's the point.
